Every year, the Carson Scholars Fund honors deserving students from across the country with a $1,000 scholarship and an exciting recognition program. The Carson Scholars Fund (CSF) is a non-profit organization founded in 1994 by world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Benjamin S. Carson and his wife, Candy. The CSF aims to recognize and reward students in grades 4 - 11 who earn the highest level of academic achievement and also display strong humanitarian qualities. To date, they have awarded over 5,200 scholarships to students in all 50 states and Washington, DC.

Fifth grader, Mary Michele, has been selected as a 2017 Carson Scholar.  Mary is among 7,300 students from across the country named this year. She was selected because of her academic achievements and service to the community. Mary will receive the scholarship and be honored at the Carson Scholars Fund Annual Awards Ceremony in April. Two former Bushy Park Bears:  Mitchell Adkins and Hala Silverstein, have qualified as 2017 Recognized Carson Scholars.  Hala and Mitchell were previously honored with a scholarship award and are being acknowledged for their continued academic and humanitarian achievements.
